Every month we interview a different member of the Polar team. Asking questions about their career, their achievements and their aspirations, we want to find out what it takes to be a Polar employee.

In the hot seat for February is Bear, Head of Play Time. As both the newest and the youngest recruit, Bear has his work cut out proving he’s top dog. With a voracious appetite for both food and learning, Bear is forever coming up with new playtime strategies and considers himself the undercover boss at Polar.

Hello Bear! Can you tell us a little bit about your role at Polar?

Hi Everyone. Yes, of course!

As Head of Playtime, I am responsible for coming up with innovative play techniques for employees and clients. Some of my regular games include fetch, eating competitions and floor is lava. I also operate as the office Squirrel Patrol, keeping my team safe from the pesky creatures that lurk by the window every day.

What is the best thing about working for Polar?

Some of my favourite things include: Meeting new people, having my ears stroked, playing with toys, eating treats, going on walks, giving clients a tour of the office, napping and barking at squirrels.

Who are your favourite clients to work for?

My favourite clients are those who want to be friends. I particularly enjoy when people are interested in seeing my range of dinosaur toys or want to play fetch with me. There was also a client who sneakily gave me Scooby Snacks… that was a great day in the office!

What do you consider your greatest career achievement?

Fitting three toys in my mouth and walking round the office with them – Everyone gave me a pat on the head!

What is your favourite inspirational quote?

“Everyone knows a dog’s best friend is his human.”
Trusty, Lady And The Tramp

What advice would you give to an aspiring office dog?

Napping is the number one requirement for us working pups and the ability to sleep anywhere, in any position, is crucial. Who knows where you might end up sleeping – in your work bed, on the floor, on the team’s laps, in a flower pot. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!

What is your favourite film of all time?

It has to be Homeward Bound.

Thanks Bear! We’ll let you get back to your designing.

You’re welcome! Woof.
